More from my Mailbox: Is my Cat Preggers?
Saturday August 30, 2003
I’m having trouble trying to figure out if my cat is pregnant. She has not gone into heat for a couple of months and her belly has been getting bigger. Now all of a sudden though, she has begun to act again as though she is in heat. (being over affectionate and rubbing on the floor) Is there any sure way to tell if she is pregnant or not?
Thanks…Puzzled
Dear Puzzled,
If she was allowed to be in a place where she could "consort" during her last heat, it's very likely that she is pregnant, and since it's been two months, and she's showing those new "symptoms," it sounds as if birth is imminent. Here's a bit more information on pregnancy and birth.
Of course, only a veterinarian can make a positive diagnosis. In the meantime, you should probably start preparing for kittens.
