Two New "Copy Cats" Born in California
Friday August 6, 2004
Two cloned kittens were born in June to separate surrogate mothers, from genetic material from their biological mother, Tahini, a one-year-old Bengal cat belonging to Lou Hawthorne, CEO of Genetics Saving & Clone. Hawthorne's company is using a new cloning method called chromatin transfer, which it believes to be safer and more efficient than traditional methods.
The kittens, named Tabouli and Baba Ganoush seemed to be doing quite well when I saw them on TV last night.
The folks at Genetic Savings & Clone would be happy to help you clone your own cat, at a price in the neighborhood of $50,000. For more information , read the Reuters article.
