October 16, 2005 is National Feral Cat Day
Thursday October 13, 2005
Alley Cat Allies, the vanguard group for TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return) programs for control of feline overpopulation, observes National Feral Cat Day each year to Celebrate Feral Cat Caregivers To educate the public and those involved in animal protection about non-lethal population control To recruit new TNR practioners and even entire communities to endorse or practice TNR.
I am privileged to know a number of dedicated cat lovers who actively practice TNR, including fostering and/or providing permanent homes for adoptable feral cats. These selfless volunteers also manage feral cat colonies for those cats that are not adoptable. If you love cats, consider donating to a local TNR or cat rescue group, or to Alley Cat Allies, to observe this special day.
