Keeping Cats Indoors Keeps Them Alive
Sunday January 22, 2006
A letter sent to the editor of the Easton (MA) Journal was written by the Coordinator of the MSPCA Metro South Animal Care and Adoption Center. She writes, in part:
Indoor cats are protected from cars, predators, disease and other cats. It keeps them from getting lost, ingesting poisons, or becoming victims of animal abuse. It also, on average, doubles their life span.
This person, with hands-on experience, certainly has the facts to back up her statements that cats' lives can be saved by keeping them indoors.
Although this particular letter was written in response to a published article, I'd love to see other people write to their own local papers in this vein. The message needs to be sent 'round the world, loud and clear.
