FAQ of the Day: What are the differences between wheat gluten, wheat germ, and wheat bran?

A Reader Asks:

One of the foods I feed my cat contains wheat germ, and another has wheat bran on the label. I'm scared because of the pet food recall of foods with toxic wheat gluten. Are these foods safe for my cat?

I would like to know the difference or all the same: rice flour, rice protein concentrate, etc. Could rice flour be contaminated? And why does Pet Gold make my cat very sick and no one will tell where to get the left over food tested? Beware Pet Gold cat canned.

I heard that corn gluten may also be contaminated. It appears on the ingredient list of the Purina Prescription dry food I give to my cat for kidney function. Any information on this?
