April Cat of the Month: Butch
Tuesday May 22, 2007
I'd like to preface by saying that each of the April Cats of the Week are deserving of being Cat of the Month. They all have their own unique beauty, and were it not for Butch's special circumstances, the vote may have turned out quite different. Somehow, I don't think any of them or their human companions will begrudge the results, though.Judging by the way Butch ran away with the vote, and by the number of comments about him in the poll blog entry, Butch is a real heart-stealer. As of last week, Butch was still waiting for that special person to adopt him. Linda wrote, in part:
- Just an update on Butch. Believe it not, he still hasn't been adopted. I don't know what to do. He is such a nice cat. We've plastered his picture all over town and on our website http://members.petfinder.org/~NJ26/FOWA.html. I don't know why Butch is so special, he's really just an ordinary little guy, but he does deserve a lap, not a cage.

Cousteau says that he really does not begrudge the results and is very glad that Butch won – All of Cousteau, Abi and Thomas have warm and loving homes and Butch definitely deserves the same!
Cousteau is absolutely gorgeous! They are all beautiful. I hope Butch finds a forever home real soon.
If I lived anywhere near Butch I’d take him in a heartbeat!!
I have been forwarding info about Butch to my friends and family in NJ (I am from PA) hopefully someone there will have it in their heart to adopt Butch. He looks like such a sweet cat, I really pray that someone will adopt him soon!
Like Susan, if I were close enough, I’d take this darling in a New York minute! I’m praying for you, Butch…
I wish Butch was in Virginia. He looks so very much like my daughter’s precious BabyDoll that got out of our new house and we could never find him. We know in our hearts that someone picked him up and kept him. We have searched for another that looks like him. He was also a very sweet young man.
I have a cat that looks just like Butch, his name is Casey and his mother died when he was a baby. I adopted him from a shelter and wish I could have Butch also then I would have twins!!! Casey thinks I am his mother he sucks on my hand and crys when he can’t see me. I hope Butch gets a loving lap soon he is beautiful & he deserves a loving home.
I’m still in love with Butch! I called as soon as I saw his picture, sent in my application, but never heard back from anyone. I just figured they may have thought I was kidding about adopting him because I live in Chicago (although,I do remember that the week I called and applied was the week of the horrible flooding on the East Coast, so I also thought the shelter might be having a rough time with understaffing, etc.). I have a new kitty now, who looks and acts a lot like Butch, and he’s my buddy. But if I had the means, I’d still pursue adopting Butch – he’s a winner – it was love at first sight for me.Franny, please keep us informed of the outcome. Thanks.
Butch looks like my own cat Buck. I think Tabbies are very special. Thank you for this column!
if i lived near there i also would take him in a heartbeat. i have 3 cats two form the pound and one who was dropped off in the woods. hang in there butch someone will take you. if i could afford the plane money i would fly you to michigan.
Butch is a beautiful Cat, a real heart stealer, I live in Vancouver Wa. soo, I guess he is too far away for me.Hope he finds a good home
We are cat lovers from the word go! We have six wonderful kittys ages 12 years old to two years old. All have been fixed and have consistant trips to the vet. We have put Butch in our prayers to be adopted into a loving home.
I have read the comments about Butch. The main theme is comments is: “If I lived closer,”. Why not see if they would ship Butch to his forever home if all else works out (application, etc.)If pedigrees can be shipped, why couldn’t Butch?
Keep the faith. There is a place for Butch. I am sure you guys will re-double your efforts.
It’s a pity that I live in England.
BUTCH IS JUST ADORABLE!!I PRAY TOO THAT SOMEONE WILL ADOPT HIM VERY SOON. I LIVE IN CHICAGO AND ALREADY HAVE 2 CATS OR I WOULD TAKE HIM ALSO LIKE THE OTHERS.
Just got so attached to Butch and wanted to know the lastest update on him. He is so adorable.
BUTCHIE found a home. The lady is coming all the way from Ohio this week to pick him up. Yay!!!
On a not so good note, the Friends of Wayne Animals no-profit group is being kicked out by the Twonship they serve and will lose the shelter.
