Special Needs Cats Picture Gallery

Special Needs Cats have a valuable place in the overall scheme of things. They demonstrate the unique ability cats have to overcome what we humans would consider as "disabilities," and handle diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and FIV with amazing resilience and acceptance; certainly lessons we can profit from. This Special Needs Picture Album serves as a testament to the courage, spunk, and "catitude" exhibited by these special cats.Clara, pictured here, is a very special blind girl who was cruelly dumped off in an industrial district. Thad Streeter brought her home and his wife, Gwen, nurtured her and helped transform her into an independent, loving cat, with some very normal feline habits. Clara is obviously well-loved. Gwen and hubby Thad epitomize the special kind of people who care for these very special cats.

What a great story! I’m a big believer in learning from animals. This is an area where they’ve really taken the lead and consistently show us that in spite of challenges we can still have happy, healthy lives!
I want to say, I totally agree with Jennifer. I worked as an adoption counselor at a humane society and we had some special needs cats. Although they weren’t the first to get adopted, we did find them all great homes with great, loving people
I had a cat that was blind from birth and he happened to get outside and someone turned him to vet (had a collar on) and vet and woman decided he was not adoptable and put him down. He was only missing 12 hours. I am still upset and get emotional when i think of him.
I am so sorry to hear about your loss. May I suggest that you report the vet to his professional organisation and also report the incident to your local papers and police.
I am writing to find out if anyone knows about a good adoption resource for an aging cat with some digestive issues. The owner has had this cat for 16 years but cannot afford to take the cat in for testing and treatment. The cat is still very spry, sweet & loving, with lots of life yet, but is having trouble with loose bowels. The owner would love to be able to find a home willing and with the resouces to care for this very special cat. Please email me if you know of anything!! With sincere thanks, Julia
