Quiz: What Kind of Cat Person Are You?

Monday May 12, 2008
What kind of cat person are you? Are you indifferent to cats, a cat owner, a cat lover or an irredeemable cat slave? Take this javascript-based cats quiz to help analyze your true relationship with your cat. Be sure to have javascript enabled in your browser.

Please Note From Franny: This is not a scientific quiz. I'm a cat writer, and not a techie or a personality analyst. This quiz may prove to be "right on" for some people, but if your results are less than you'd expected, please don't be disheartened. I had one new forum member who was in tears because she thought she must be a terrible cat mom after taking this quiz. It took awhile, but our forum members were finally able to convince her that it was the quiz and not her that was at fault.

I have just do your quiz on how much of a cat person I am. I enjoyed doing the quiz it was fun. I adore cats. After a long time of not having a cat in the house I aquire the most beautiful black and white kitten about two years ago and I again realize the a house without a cat is not a home. She sleeps where she wants, loves to hunt and bring her mother her trophies and terrorize my Maltese, Mannetjie (Little Man in English). My German Shepherd, Nandi (meaning beautiful in Zulu) loves to play with her and they have become good friends. I would love to have a big farm to be able to have a cat shelter where stray cats can find a living. I will also like to be able to breed with cats. I love all cats, but my favorite breeds are Main Coon, Abysians, Norwegian Forest, Scottish Folds and Manx. I had a Manx once and she was the most adorable little kitten, loving a serious hunter with a very soft meow. It happened a lot that I will just open the door, to put out the garbage or go somewhere and there was Snow White sitting in front of the door and all you see was her little mouth opening and closing, calling to be let into the house. She was killed by a neighbour’s dog and I cried for three days solid. It was to me as if I have lost a child.

Bobby, the blue titles to each blog entry means they are clickable. You’ll see your cursor change to a pointing finger when you hover it over the title. Simply click on the title and it will take you to the quiz. You must have a browser that supports javascript and have javascript enabled on your browser.

Hope this helps! :)

Why are the posted dates so off?

I must say that I am very disheartened with my results. I answered them as honestly as I could to remain true to myself. It now seems I am not fit to be a cat owner. I cut and pasted my results below:

“Your Results: You have completed the quiz and your composite answers reveal the following about your relationship to cats: You may not be an out-and-out cat hater, but both you and cats would probably be better served by keeping your distance. Think very seriously about this aspect of your personality before entering into a meaningful relationship with a cat lover, as that could spell disaster for all concerned.”

How could I be considered a possible cat hater? I’ve had Tyler and Krause for years. I will consider giving them to my brother. Thanks.

Ronny: The posted dates are “off” because this blog post was “recycled” with a new date. This is a common practice to keep the search engines from coming up with multiple URLs for the same basic blog post. I don’t post links to content such as this one just once, then forget about them for eternity. Otherwise, new visitors to the site might never see much of the content outside my blog. Word Press allows only two options: turn comments off, which would disallow new comments, such as yours, or leave comments on, which will show not only the new ones, but older ones too. I opted for the latter.

Clear as mud? ;)

Apparently in your haste to complete the quiz, you didn’t pay attention to my PLEASE NOTE disclaimer. I’ll repeat it here:

PLEASE, try to salve your wounded feelings, and forget this silly quiz. Give Tyler and Krause big hugs and forget about giving them away. They need YOU! :)

Looks like I am need to do some reading on how to properly love my cats. Im torn at these results. I wonder if my cats actually feel that I dont love them. What should I do, there are no nice restaurants around my house that will allow cats to eat at the table.

Sophia,
Dont worry my dear, I believe, in my heart, that our cats feel nothing but love from us. How can they possibly know that we got a $2000 bonus at work and decided to invest that money into our house? I dont have a brother to give my kitties to but my neighbor might possibly take one.

Franny,
Perhaps you should start an adoption forum on this page for owners that want to get rid of their cats. Just an idea in light of this survey.

Peggy, if I seriously thought that people would be giving up their cats by the scores because of the results of this admittedly SILLY quiz, I’d be sorely tempted to give up this job.

It’s a FUN, quiz, people, but these “woe is me - I’m such a TERRIBLE cat mom” comments are quickly taking the fun out of it for me, and I’m sure for a number of readers who see them. :(
