Cat Picture of the Week: Mira and Roxie
Mira and Roxie keep me laughing with their antics! Roxie (with the longer hair), I have concluded, is A-D-D. She NEVER stops playing and exploring and is often worse than having a toddler in the house. I cannot leave anything out, lest she gets into it. She attacks everything with utter abandon, chasing toys and screeching to a halt with all 4 legs splayed in all directions. Mira, is more subdued, and prefers to sit back and watch Roxie make a fool of herself. Her favorite passtime is watching and stalking the backyard chipmunks from the windowsill. Her favorite toy is "DaBird" — a wand toy that simulates an actual bird in flight. It sends her into quite the tizzy.
Both cats have insatiable appetites, and I must ration their food, or they would eat everything in sight. Mira spends much of her day nagging me to feed her, and then inhales her food in less than 5 minutes. Roxie eats a bit slower, but is as much of a food nag as Mira. I took these photos of them one day when I had my photography equipment set up for a photo shoot. They jumped up on the bench and seemed to enjoy the warmth of the hot lights. It is one of the few times I have been able to catch them both in a quiet and contemplative moment!

I select my Cat of the Week pictures from general photo submittals, and as often as possible, those choices are made from the featured color patterns for the monthly cats photo calendars. Mira and Roxie's photo was submitted for the 2008 Calico Cats Picture Gallery for July, and will also appear in that gallery
You may email me your cats' photos, by observing the Photo Submittal Guidelines. Sorry, but I will not be able to publish photos on my site without all the requested information.

It really is a beautiful portrait. They look like they’re fully cooperating in the shoot, which in my life has never happened. My ex-husband and I used to send a holiday photo every year of the two of us with our cats. We almost always had to choose a funny out-take with hissing or leaping cats!
OK, I have photo envy. My kitties never, ever pose like this. Mira and Roxie are definitely gorgeous ladies!
What beautiful cats, and a beautiful photo.
