2008 for Cats in Review

Wednesday December 31, 2008

January came in as predicted, it's true,
The weather was chilly; the cats were blue
We had several polls, which my readers revere
And started it out with '07 Cat of the Year

February as a month and its own special day
Were both set aside to preach neuter and spay
Valentine's Day was as usual, delightful
and our monthly cat color decidedly whitefull

March came in like a lion and out like a mouse
and many of us had tabby cats all over the house
From pet food recalls, the industry tried to recover,
but consumer distrust was still not over

In April consumers started to mutiny,
As Nutro Pet Food came under scrutiny
In my work, on good friends I was increasing depending
As my life as I'd known it was soon to be ending

May 2nd was a most sorrowful day
As my life partner and supporter was taken away
I'm trying now, not to dwell on the past
another life lesson to learn from our cats
That didn't stop readers on Memorial Day
From honoring loved cats who have now gone away

In June we honored with a tip of our hats
Fathers Day by celebrating Men Who Love Cats
On Friday, the 13th, which some folks abhor
I somehow was reminded of Black Cat Folklore

July came in with a bang, as might be expected
From the fireworks on the 4th, our cats were protected
Of calico cats, the photos were many,
But somehow I forgot one of my own lovely Jenny

In August with fanfare and roll of the drumsticks,
We featured our own games in the Kitty Olympics
I also came out with a resounding shout
With Domestic Cat Pictures (what this site is about)
Wordless Wednesday, which never gives us the blues
Was one week about Walk a Mile in my Shoes

Victory came in September after long-term hassle
For both Hemingway Cats
and for Shaq and Picasso
and a cat named Betsy, who on the streets did roam
who finally was given a new loving home

October, of course, was all about Halloween
And its symbol, black cats, in their beauty pristine

In November, the U.S. observes Thanksgiving
While we honor the cats who give us reasons for living

December's for family and cats are no exception
Some even were willing to get in on the action
As the year now rolls down and I've run out of rhyme
It's apparent now that it's really the time
to lift my glass and shout with great cheer
To all still awake, Have a HAPPY NEW YEAR!

My friend, a happy new year to you as well. I love this blog. I would not miss it for anything. I meant to contribute to the “How your know you’re kitty whipped” but forgot my PW and user name. :-( I can show anyone what it’s like to be whipped. This little Tortie, the Admiral is a benevolent dictator though.
Best wishes always..you are wonderful.

Franny….love your website…we have six cats…three inside…all rescues including a persian I have had forver..and three outdoor..kinda feral..not so much anymore with our feeding and helping them live a better life. Your site inspires me…My husband and I are certified animal lovers..Cats are the top dogs for us though. Please keep writing. I love also how you critique cat food…that is very helpful.

Thanks for all your “happy new years” greetings and your kind comments about my site.

Bianca, you can contribute to “Kitty Whipped” without having to sign in. Just us “Bianca” as a guest name. It should work. :)
