Cat Picture of the Week: Jo-Riley

This is Jo-Riley, who will be 8 years old in February. Her mother was abandoned by her owner without food or water for an undetermined amount of time in an empty apartment, and she and Jo-Riley were rescued by my neighbor when Jo-Riley was only one day old. She was an only child. We had her mom spayed and found a good home for her, and I kept Jo-Riley. She is beautiful, with "velvet ears, and a button nose, and little purple berry toes." Playful, sweet, and entitled, she is a jewel of a kitty. I'm so glad she came to live with me.
When Jo-Riley drinks, she splashes little pearls of water all over her face, then settles back, as in this picture, and looks at them cross eyed. I've never seen another cat do that.

Jo-Riley's rescue story was remarkable, as was her lovely picture. I guess what really sold me though, was the "little purple berry toes." What a visual!
My Cat Pictures of the week are selected by me from photos submitted to all other cats picture galleries on this site (I do not accept photos specifically for this gallery). In all cases, only photos observing the Photo Submittal Guidelines can be legally used.
Because of minimum image requirements, my 2009 Cat Pictures of the Week Gallery will not be live on the site for three weeks. However, you can see Jo-Riley's larger picture now on the January Blue Cats Picture Gallery

It’s unbelievable that people could just abandon a cat like that but what a great happy ending to the story! She’s beautiful.
What a beautiful and sweet girl. I am so grateful she and her mother were rescued. I will never been able to comprehend the cruelty of others who would do a terrible thing like that. We are to be good stewards of our animals.
