Memorial Gifts for Cat Lovers

Sunday January 11, 2009

When a cat lover loses a treasured cat to death, the mourning process is similar to that of loss of a family member. A fitting memorial helps to ease the loss, whether it be a picture with a written memorial, a plaque, figurine, or a garden memorial statue or stone. I've chosen a few fitting memorials that can either be given as gifts or to honor the memory of a cat you've personally lost.

It seems that the holidays sometimes bring new losses with them, and certainly the memories of previous losses. One way of helping to solve the pain of a friend's loss of a cat is a memorial donation to a cat shelter or cat cause. I believe this kind of donation serves two purposes:

  1. It is a wonderful way of helping to heal the pain of the survivor
  2. It honors the life of the deceased cat by bringing hope to other cats

I had my cat Buster tatooed on my chest, directly above my heart, where she will always live on. It was very theraputic for me.

Rather than clone animals that have left us, I believe we should make a donation to help animals and think about adopting from a shelter

I say we make donations to cloning research in memory of those pets that have passed. This is a great way to honor them and help make cloning more reliable and affordable.

Over the last 35 years I have had a total of 7 cats. Whenever one of them died I made a donation to Cats Protection the UKs national cat charity. hat way at least some good came from my loss.

I really like the idea of planting a tree as a reminder of our departed furry friends, something that keeps on giving to the world even though they have gone.
There is a good post about cat memorials and how to cope with the loss of a pet herehttp://www.our-happy-cat.com/loss-of-a-pet.html

I have a Saint Frances statue in the middle of an azalea garden in my back yard. So far there are 5 of my precious babies interred there.

cloning is a senseless waste of time and resources. the value of my pet’s lives has nothing to do with their dna. the idea that genes make one life worth more than another is SICK. not to mention selfishly indifferent to animals who are alive and in need. i can’t believe this needs to be said, but: cloning does not mean reincarnating, or that the clone will have the same personality.
breeding, buying and selling of animals i.e. treating them as property are despicable practices. adopt an animal. save its life. he/she didn’t deserve to be abandoned.
