RIP, Ringo
Ringo came to Tabby's Place from a veterinarian, who took him in when his owner could not afford to pay for his diabetes care. He suffered from severe diabetic neuropathy, and could no longer jump to high places, although otherwise he got around fairly well. He was later diagnosed with IBD and heart disease. Ringo was a stunning cat, a large gray, black, and brown longhair tabby, with lustrous green eyes and obvious Maine Coon lineage.
From the very first, Ringo was a "people pleaser," and he soon became one of the most popular cats in the special needs section of Tabby's Place. Ringo loved people, and would invite petting with a furry paw to the arm or a gentle head-bump. He was a great favorite of Tabby's Place staff, volunteers, and visitors.
In February, 2009, after four years at Tabby's Place, and at the advanced age of 17, Ringo went to his forever home. He was adopted by Stacey and Jim, who had experience with diabetic cats, and found Ringo's age an incentive to adopt him, rather than a deterrent.
In April, Ringo's kidneys began to fail, and it was apparent that he did not have much longer to live. Jonathan Rosenberg, Tabby's Place founder, was at Ringo's side when he peacefully left this world. Ringo will be missed by everyone who knew him, but his life was filled with love to the very end. Rest in peace, big boy.

Oh, how sad. But how wonderful that he knew the love of the Tabby’s Place volunteers, and then a couple of months of special love, just for him.
