Cat Breed of the Week: Turkish Angora

Tuesday August 18, 2009

Interestingly, the Turkish Angora had its origin the Manul cat of central Asia, which was domesticated by the Tartars. Eventually one strain of the Manul migrated to Turkey, and are considered as a national treasure in that country.

Although white was the traditional color, a wide array of colors are acceptable in several patterns. Turkish Angoras meet life on its own terms and love every minute of it. Quite an example to follow, it seems.

Pictured here is "Sapphire," a stunning white Turkish Angora girl.
