Automatic litter boxes take a lot of the work out of litter box maintenance, especially if they work as advertised. They eliminate a lot of the bending, squatting, and mess involved in the time-consuming scooping and cleaning of regular litter boxes. A lot also depends on cats' reactions to the noise and movement of the automatic boxes. Of my four cats, only one has enthusiastically used the two such products I have owned.

Now that we have eight cats and 11 litter boxes, I briefly considered trying the automatic kind, but then I would lose the best “early-warning system” for my cats’ health. So I guess I’ll keep stooping and scooping – thank heaven for yoga!
