Mimi Ausland, one of my very favorite kids, has asked my readers' to support the proclamation of April 30th as the official Adopt a Shelter Pet Day. The need for promotion of the adoption of shelter pets is so desperate that April is already celebrated as Adopt a Shelter Pet Month, as is June as Adopt a Shelter Cat Month, and October as Adopt a Shelter Dog Month.
Freekibble.com is partnering with Tails Magazine with the goal of 100,000 emails to the President by the deadline of September 30th. Your job is practically done for you, with a form which only requires your name, city or town, state, and email address. (Your email address privacy will be protected.) As of today, over 64,000 emails have been sent. Perhaps with my readers' help the goal will be met way in advance of the deadline. The icing on the cake is that, Thanks to Halo, Purely for Pets, Freekibble.com will be donating a nutritious meal to shelter dogs and cats for each email - up to 50,000 meals!
