Action Alert: CA AB 2743 on Gov. Schwarznegger's Desk

By , About.com Guide   September 2, 2010

Follow me on:

CA AB2743 would prohibit California landlord from requiring declawing of cats or debarking of dogs by tenants, as a condition of occupancy. The bill would also require the payment of $2,500 per animal to tenants who have declawed or devocalized pets in violation of the ordinance.

Gov. Schwarznegger can veto this bill at any time now. The Paw Project is one of many of the animal advocate groups who support this bill, and urges California residents to take action to help get this bill signed. As it has done with every other CA state or local legislation about declawing, the CVMA opposes this bill.
