Review: "They Had Me At Meow"

Follow me on:

This is one of the hardest reviews I ever had to write - not because I didn't like the book - I loved it. But compared to Rosie's honest, vivid stories of the cats of Buster Hollow, my words seem to fall short when describing those stories. As the judge wrote, upon awarding "They Had Me At Meow" the coveted 2009 Muse Medallion from the Cat Writers' Association:

"She had me at her first sentence. A beautiful little jewel of a book: wonderful stories, valuable information about feral cats and just the right touch of humor to spice things up."
And as I emailed Rosie: "The book arrived today, and I'm already halfway through it."

It's that kind of book. On the tail of Rosie's honors last year, in the Cat Writers' Association annual conference in 2010, she won another Muse Medallion for her greeting cards, featuring the cats at Buster Hollow. Well-deserved again, Rosie!

Read my full review of They Had Me At Meow, and if you fail to fall in love with the cats at Buster Hollow, I won't have done my job. For those of you who plan to or have read the book, you can become a fan of the "They Had Me At Meow" Facebook page. While you're there, be sure to watch the video of the cats at Buster Hollow.
