Two years ago, I created a User Answer section on Behavior Problem Success, reasoning that readers who had successfuly solved cat behavior problems could share their experiences, thus helping other readers with similar problems. The section has been successful; however, to date, posts ASKING FOR HELP with their cats' behavior problems have outnumbered those from helpful readers sharing their success stories. I can no longer fight the flow, and have now opened this section to those asking for help.
However, because it is not a threaded discussion format, questions will eventually be buried in the flow, and unless you visit the page daily, you might miss the answer (as others will miss your question). I'd strongly suggest taking the following steps first:
- Read Cat Behavior 101
The most commonly reported problems are listed here, with expert answers - Explore Feline Behavior Problems
This category is organized into sections on all the various kinds of cat behavior problems. - Utilize The H.I.S.S. Test
Created by Amy Shojai, CABC, former Contributing Writer for Cats, this page describes the exact method Amy uses to understand and correct actual behavior problems. Pay special attention to the section on potential health problems. - Read Amy Shojai's Replies to Previous Behavior Questions
One or more of these replies may very well be the solution to your own cat's problems. - Post Your Question to the About.com Cats Forum
Many of our forum members are long-time caregivers to cats, and they will gladly share expert advice.
