Telling a Kitten's Sex is Not Always a Done Deal

Ariel's name is Hebrew for "Lion of God," but Jacque liked the powerful meaning of the name, so she gave it to her sweet little girl kitten. All was fine until one day the two were playing and as Ariel pranced away, Jacque exclaimed, "Where the hell did you get those?" Since Jacque frequently rescues kittens and cats, one would expect her to be an expert at knowing their sexes, right? Not necessarily. I have made a few similar mistakes, as have experts such as veterinarians, shelter workers, and even experienced cat breeders.
