February is Responsible Pet Owner Month

For many years, February has been Spay and Neuter Month, culminating in Spay Day U.S.A. Our responsibilities toward our cats don't end there, though. We also need to feed them nutritious meals, keep them safe from harm, and provide veterinary care. Thus, Responsible Pet Owner Month has evolved. It's been difficult trying to find which (if any) non-profit organization sponsors Responsible Pet Owner Month. The vast majority of media plugs seem to come from PR agencies for companies selling products.

I'll take it any way I can get it, though, if it will help more cat owners to develop habits of responsibility toward the cats we love. Somehow, we need to eradicate the "disposable cat syndrome." This little guy pictured here might have a home if someone had been more responsible by spaying and neutering.
