Kitten season, which is dreaded by TNR people, is coming soon. One way to slow the influx of new kittens, who increase the likelihood that older cats will remain homeless, is to spay and neuter our own pets. If your female kitten is starting to act friendlier than usual, such as young Sadie, pictured in this YouTube Video, if she has access to the outdoors, or you have whole male cats, you'll likely end up with a litter of kittens in about nine weeks, give or take a day or two. The photo shown here gives a vivid description of what happens to cats in heat outdoors.

Like other cat advocates, I strongly urge that pet female cats be spayed as early as possible, for a number of reasons. Once a female cat reaches puberty, she becomes a queen, and estrus - sometimes spelled "oestrus" (heat) - cycles will start. In domestic cats, heat cycles run generally from January through August, depending on location and climate. Learn more about mating in cats and why it is so important to spay and neuter cats.

Excellent, love it!
Did i miss something.. Do male cats mate with their mother???
Phyliss, you sure did miss something. Cats are not ruled by human morals. Whole male cats will mate with their mothers, sisters, aunts, and grandmothers if the females are not spayed.
