We're now in our second week of honoring lovely tortoiseshell cats, and Peyton is our featured Cat of the Week this week.
Poor Peyton bounced through two homes in short order as a rescued kitten until she finally landed in Kimilee's home, where she has been loved and nurtured for the past four years. In case you're wondering why, it is because Peyton has an excess of the famous (or notorious) "Tortitude," a character trait that many tortoiseshell cats share. Nothing in her home is considered sacred in Peyton's viewpoint, including decorative items and anything else placed on flat surfaces. Other pets in the house are fair game, and Peyton revels in "beating them up." In fact, Kimilee describes her as "Mentally disturbed. I often say that the fuzzy must go all the way thru her brain. I also say she is all mixed up because her colors are." Despite this description, Peyton adores Kimilee, and snuggles with her, having chosen her as "my person."
Does any of this sound familiar? If so, you may also be the proud parent of a tortoiseshell cat and are invited to submit two photos and her story to the Life With a Tortoiseshell Cat Show and Tell.
