It may be puzzling to learn that some of the ways cats show their love might cause us to think just the opposite.
For example, your cat's propensity to claw the arms of your favorite chair is actually a way of demonstrating his love for the person who sits in that chair, according to Amy Shojai, CABC, former Contributing Writer on cat behavior for this website. The photo shown here is of a cat bearing gifts for his favorite human. Now that's more like it, but what if that gift is a pungent dead catfish, like my Bubba used to leave on the floor next to my side of the bed? That sounds like mixed messages to me, but perhaps not. Maybe he thought I needed more protein in my diet, and the stinkier, the better.
