Delicious Dessert Just for Cat Lovers
Nothing spices up a birthday party or other gathering of cat lovers (such as Halloween) like a Litter Box Cake. It's quick, easy to create, and fun to decorate, so let your imagination run wild! I decorated mine with giant plastic flies for my youngest son's birthday, and he asks for it every year now.

Linda Larsen, our Busy Cooks Guide gives you the basics of her Kitty Litter Cake, but you don't need to add any flies, unless you're so inclined.

I’m concerned about this litter box cake since litter boxes and scoopers are NOT food-grade plastic. We use so much plastic in cooking and serving that we tend to think all plastics are created equal, when unfortunately, they are not. Non-food-grade plastics leach some really nasty chemicals into food. Serious long-term health problems can be a result of ingesting these chemicals. No one knows how much exposure can cause problems, but they are absorbed into the food immediately upon contact.
Here’s a link from the Canadian Cancer Society. Your browser will find many more warnings. (Try “storing foods in plastic.”)

It is O.K. to use non-food-grade plastic if it is lined with food-grade plastic (litter liners and garbage bags are not food-grade since they were never meant to store food), and I would use the scooper for decoration only.

how long dose it take to make and is it no bake or bake
Elizabeth, if you’ll just read the linked recipe article, your questions will be answered.
Hi! I was wondering why your Kitty Litter Cake had red in it, I guess I dont think my 2 cat litterboxes has ever been Red. Is it susposed to be gross b/c it halloween??? Well I find it very offencive-thank you!!!
KONFUSEDKATO: Sorry you were offended, but the red you see is only a problem with the photo. If you read the recipe, there is NO red food coloring or anything else in the recipe that is red.
Yes, the cake IS supposed to be gross, but not necessarily for Halloween. We serve it year-round for our family, and most of them enjoy it. It is actually quite tasty.
