I have been researching kittens ever since… November, my other cat died in May… and I really want a kitten, I have been learning alot about them. And your site has helped tremendously in my cat research! My mum said that if I learn about the cat and take care of it, I can have one. i am so tremendously excieted! So i am going to get one in about the end of May.
Are you a verteranarian? Cause if you are, thatz really kool, because i wanna be one too! But i hear it will take like.. 6-8 years! that’s a long time, but thats okay, i really wanna help animals.
All i wanted to say with this is that your site is helping me get a kitten and it is also helping my new kitten that i will soon have, have a better life.
Thnx so much

Hi Jen, good luck with getting your kitten. You sound like you are being very responsible, and good on your mom for encouraging you to learn. Don’t be put off by the vet course sounding like a long time - it seems long when you’re a kid, but it isn’t that long, and studying at university is great fun. Hard work too but it is the best time of your life.

Hi Jen!

Thanks for your nice comments. Nope, I’m not a veterinarian, (and never played one on TV). Veterinarians are my idols, and I’ve learned a lot from my own, as well as from all the great veterinary sites on the Internet, such as the Cornell College of Veterinary Medicine

Have you seen my online course on kitten care? You can find it in the link in the red text at the left.

Don’t worry about getting any emails from your comments. You’ll see that your email address isn’t even displayed. :)

Good luck with your new kitten. I know you must be very excited!! And good luck with a veterinary career if that is in your future. With your enthusiasm, I’m sure you’ll go far.

(4) Maggie says:

I find that one myth that affects many people who think about getting cats is that cats don’t show affection. I told a taxi driver that cats: follow you from room to room; snuggle up; may sit on your knee; and ust plain pay attention to you, as well as purring. He was really surprised and thoughtthat’s much like dogs, really, in showing that they love you. People who want an affectionate pet may automatically not consider a cat.

(5) Steven C. Barr says:

I have always kept my cats strictly indoors…and, in fact, have lost cats who got outside and never returned. My current feline companion, Ecru (named for his colour) has absolutely NO interest in going outdoors, even if I have to leave a door open for repairs to the hinges…and I like things that way. Too many careless drivers and oddly-motivated young people here in Oshawa, Ont’o., Canada
