Cat Breed of the Week: Sphynx

Tuesday April 25, 2006
With its almost hairless body, big ears and pixiesh expression, you'll either love the Sphynx or hate it at first sight. However, if you spend a bit of time around a Sphynx, you'll find them companionable, intelligent, and friendly-- all those qualities one looks for in a feline companion. Sphynx are outgoing and love to show off, which makes them always sought out in shows.

If you decide you'd love to call a Sphynx your own, you may have to wait. They're still considered rare, and most breeders have waiting lists.

I don’t like the spynx, i have to be honest. Is it true that the sphynx is part chid part monkey, part cat? Because that’s what i read in this one article on the computer.
Have a nice day

I think(in its own way),the Sphynx is a cute cat.It sort of resembles E.T.or Yoda. The cat in the Austin Powers movies, was a Sphynx(Mr.Bigglesworth.)This particular breed, some love them or are repulsed by them up front. As for me,I like them, because I like ET and Yoda.Lastly,as the song goes,”Everything is beautiful,in its own way!”

Jen M., I think the “part monkey, part child, part cat” comment you read was intended as an affectionate description, and was not meant to be read literally. ;)

Jen.M sorry to say but you cant belive everything you heear on the internet also a cat wouldnt allow or lower its self to breed with a monkey thats crazy So what if the sphynx is ugly it carries the Dignity that lies in every cat no matter what the breed with the shynx you have to look a little harder

(9) Maudie says:

I have two of these wonderful cats. No hair, no hairballs, no fleas, reduction in allergens (still a little). And so very smart and curious! They remind me of those smart velociraptors in Jurassic Park. The swishy bare tails and can figure out how to get into anything! And extremely loving cats…lap cats 100%. They have wonderful little paws that look like webbed hands! They grasp your finger like a baby does.

I have to admit as a owner of one these delightful creatures I would have no other cat, she is bright and beautiful full of fun but not for those who are not willing to spend loads of time taking care of such a sweet cat
