Whether called "polydactyls," "Hemingway Cats," or "Mittens," these many-toed cats warm the hearts and hearths of those people fortunate to share a home with one. The extra toes on polydactyl cats produce very wide feet which have been variously described as resembling "paddles," "snowshoes," or "waffles," when they walk You'll appreciate those descriptions when you see these pictures of polydactyl kitties submitted by readers of About. com cats.

You may submit your own photos of polydactyl Cats, using the Photo Submittal Guidelines. Please use "Polydactyl Cats" as the subject of your email. (A tip for submitting polydact photos: Please make an effort to show the cats' feet, since those "mittens" are what make polydacts so unique.) Squeaky's photo, shown here, highlights her feet in a big way. It isn't necessary to go to these extremes, but don't hide those feet!

(1) Susan says:

We Have a Polydoctyl cat. She is one of 6 cats we have. She is a very loving and caring cat. When I had cancer 5 years ago she was my nurse. She watched over me and got mad at my husband (who’s cat she has chosen to belong to)if he hurt me changing my bandages. Every home should have one of these “Special” cats
