Page 4: Kohana

Kohana

"Kohana's (Sioux for "Swift") my brown marble Bengal. I got him on April 4, 2002, from the same pet shop where I'd gotten my spotted bengal, Aleshana, a few months before. When I held him the first time, and I kissed him on the nose, he nipped the tip of my nose. I was in love. I'd done a lot of reading after I got my spotted bengal, and decided I wanted to get a marbled one too. When I was told he'd been raised by the manager of the store, and that he had been vaccinated for FIP, I felt much more comfortable about buying him.

It turned out that comfortable feeling was uncalled for. She vaccinated him several weeks too early, and he ended up mildly sick with FIP. Luckily, he recovered and has thrived. I found out later that his breeder raised her cats in cages, so he hadn't lived as a family member until he came here. He's a sweet and affectionate boy, but he's not sure about snuggling on my lap yet. He's had a rough start, and he's not as agile and energetic as most bengals, but he's a sweetheart and we have a very special bond."
