I come from a long line of women who love to play with numbers. My Grandma Amy was the Assistant County Clerk of the rural area where I was born, and her job was dealing with vital statistics: numbers and dates. My Mom was a bookkeeper, and I followed in her footsteps for awhile. My first full-time job involved punching numbers into a huge IBM proof machine with a noisy tumbler that "ate" checks as fast as a cat can gobble kibble. I later dealt with numbers while helping the crime statistician in the police department where I worked, and even later (with much larger numbers) as a real estate broker.
Although numbers can be boring at times and scary at others (watching stock markets rise and fall is a case-in-point), at times they can be fascinating. Here are some series of numbers I've assembled for you that are all about cats. Some may be surprising, others not so-- but I hope they'll never be boring.
