Guide Review - Home-Prepared Dog & Cat Diets, by Donald R. Strombeck, DVM, PhD
This is a good book for someone entering into the aspect of home-prepared diet for their cats. Dr. Strombeck builds a solid case for the relationship of nutrition to health in cats and dogs. The book is divided into five main sections: Food Quality and Safety; Feeding Normal Cats and Dogs; Food Intolerance and Allergy; Diet-Induced Disease, and Dietary Management of Disease. The last section alone could make this book invaluable to a caregiver of a cat with a serious disease. The section on allergy also contains invaluable information.
However, I'd have been happier if cats had their own separate section. I found myself asking, "Is he talking about dogs or cats here?" on several occasions.
