Adoption Day!

July 27, 2003. Dick took this photo as we prepared to bring Billy to his forever home. Asa hides his elation well, and he's a bit camera-shy, but he was as thrilled as I was. After all, this adoption was HIS idea!
Home at Last!

We had made a list of errands that day, including shopping for groceries, but with Billy in tow, went directly home. We could hardly wait to get some "hands-on" experience with him in his new home. Since we had noticed a sneeze, along with a watery eye, we suspected a URI, and confined him to our bedroom. Billy seemed perfectly content with the arrangement.
First Vet Visit

I whisked Billy off to the veterinarian, first thing Monday morning, digicam in hand. He confirmed an idiopathic URI, and Billy was put on Clavamox, and ordered into isolation for two weeks. Dr.Dietrich is very tolerant of my idiosyncrosies, and allows me to freely photographic while he works. Billy weighed only 2.8 pounds, which makes him a runt, for his age. Because he still has all his baby teeth, Dr.D thought he was one month younger, but I have the photos to prove his age.
Day 3

We've settled into a routine. Billy stays with my son Lance most of the time, and as soon as Asa arrives home from work, he calls, "Bring me my cat!" Billy spends an hour or so playing on our big bed, gets his nightly medications, then returns to Lance's room for the night.Billy discovered his tail in this photo, and is having a great time attacking the "furry beast," while cuddled up next to Dad.
More Play

I love this photo, because it shows the lovely and unique coloration in Billy's coat. He has semi-long hair, and we think he has a bit of the Maine Coon in his background, because of his bushy tail, long ear tufts, toe tufts, and his general appearance. We call him our "micro-Coonlet."
In Mom's Office

During the day, to give Lance a bit of relief from kitten-sitting, and to give him time to pay attention to the other cats, I bring Billy into my office. It's a whole new experience for him. By the way, Jaspurr and Joey are intensely interested in Billy. They've seen him being carried from room to room, and can hardly wait to get "up close and personal" with their new little "brother."
What's This Thing?

Of course, Billy spends a lot of time on Mom's lap (when he will consent to hold still.) It was inevitable that he'd discover my computer. He's fascinated by all those moving targets on the screen, and has no concept of a keyboard. Billy is already gaining weight, and is coming along nicely on his meds.
