Page 1 - Previous Years' Featured Calico Cats
Calico cats represent the brilliant rainbow of colors in a sunny July day. Of all cat color patterns, Calicos are perhaps the loveliest with their tri-colored exuberance. Although most Calicos are females because of genetics, the rare male does sometimes pop up, as you will see in this album. Annie is the "Hospital Cat" I wrote about in a Working Cats article a few years ago. This Miss has one of the sweetest personalities I've seen, and handles her duties as Greet-Cat for my veterinarian with charm and aplomb. It is not unusual to see Annie waiting at the door for the next patient, unless she is sleeping in her own chair behind the counter. She is also not averse to jumping into the cat carrier a patient cat just exited. Annie is well loved by staff and clients alike, and has come a long way since her earlier life. Some kitty, Annie!

""Mewsette's full name is Misty Mewsette Chantoo, and she was 15 in
April. She is the Marilyn Monroe of cats, and she knows it, a gorgeous
longhaired calico with deep green eyes. She is dramatic, opinionated,
and has chattered constantly all her life. She has something to say
about absolutely everything and will go under the table to pout if you
don't agree. She was born under the floorboards of my house, where I dug
her out when she was 2 days old, and she's been my heart ever since. A
great huntress and babysitter of chickens in her youth, she is now the
pampered Queen of the house. She is the daughter of BamBam."

"She was an abandoned kitten and is now quite
spoiled. This somewhat unflattering pose was caught while she was grooming
herself." (Franny's note: The pose may be unflattering, but it doesn't attract from her beauty, Mikey.)

"Sidney was rescued from the bushes at approximately four months of age. Like all kittens, he was very inquisitive and had to "inspect" everything. In this photo, he's not really eating the spider plant, he's just smelling it." (Sidney is now a Rainbow Kitty and I know Heather misses him dearly.)

Isadora was a member of BalletCat's clowder, and was a perfect example of a Calico.
