July Cats Photo Calendar
Page 2 - Previous Years' Featured Calico Cats

Calico cats represent the brilliant rainbow of colors in a sunny July day. Of all cat color patterns, Calicos are perhaps the loveliest with their tri-colored exuberance. Although most Calicos are females because of genetics, the rare male does sometimes pop up, as you will see in this photo album.

With this page, we're converting back to the "thumbnail" format for reader convenience. You can click on the small images to view full-sized photos of July Calico cats for years prior to 2003.

Cleo

"This is Cleopatra..or as we like to call her Cleo-fat-ra! Our family adopted her 3 years ago when she was 5. We have always tried to keep her slim (she's on a strict diet) but she insists on being the laziest cat in the neighbourhood: sleeping in the shade whenever she's let outside, only getting up if she thinks she's about to be fed; the rare time we see her run is if a squirrel is chasing her! She may be a fat wimp, but she's the sweetest, most loveable cat!" "

Kyra

"This is Kyra, a dilute calico, who just had her first birthday. I adopted this highly energetic, playful girl in March. She had been abandoned in a box on my vet's doorstep. And after 3 months of sleepless nights (she liked to attack my feet from 3:30-6:00am every morning). I adopted a 6 month old friend for her in June and now he wakes her up to play."

June Bug

"She was rescued from a busy city intersection. I was debating which way to turn, so I hesitated and a tiny streak ran across in front of my car. So without thinking, I threw it in park and ran out to get her! She is living in our house and making herself quite comfortable. She gets along with last year's "street rescue," cat, Lizzie, who was submitted for the August album. "

Scruffy Jo

Scruffy Jo is the beloved baby of Linda, who wrote that Scruffy Jo had inoperable cancer. Scruffy Jo turned 12 in May of 2001, and was going strong at the time this photo was submitted, with good days and bad. She had lost some weight, but was always treated like royalty by Linda and her husband. Linda wrote, "She is our pride and joy. She is not our cat, she is our little precious girl. She doesn't know she is a cat or what a cat is expected to do."
