Aleshane

"Aleshane is my brown spotted Bengal. I got her from a local pet shop as an early birthday present for myself on Jan., 24, 2002. I'd known a couple Bengals that other people owned and was entranced with the breed. She was 12 weeks old when I got her, and came from a breeder who raised them "underfoot" and she's turned out to be a delightful, energetic, extremely intelligent, silly companion. Everything is a toy, and when she was a kitten, if she wasn't playing exhuberantly, she was asleep. The day I brought her home, she picked up a heavy screwdriver that had 10 magnetic bits stored in its handle and ran off with it. It was a sign of things to come.

She loves to hang out on the tops of the doors, and she'll jump from one counter in my kitchen to the top of the door to the utility room, ride it as it swings from her weight hitting it, and jump to the counter across the kitchen (the walk space is about 6 feet wide). For awhile, she wanted to walk on top of the door frames, and I caught her trying to get on top of a picture frame a couple times. When she wants to snuggle, she comes flying up at full speed, and in one movement, leaps to my chest, grabs onto the top of my shoulder with her front feet, tucks her back feet up under her, and, if I'm leaning forward, dangles in front of my chest with a happy 'Time to hold the BAY-BEE' look. She takes discipline personally, and learns with one or two 'nos' what it takes most cats weeks with a squirt bottle to learn.

A few months after I brought her home, I brought home another kitten who'd been vaccinated at too early of an age for FIP, and ended up mildly sick from it. Aleshane didn't get sick from FIP, but her growth was stopped at 6 months of age (the age she was when I brought the vaccinated kitten in), and she's now a whopping 6 1/2 - 7 pounds."
