Meet Dr. Seuss, the newest member of our family. We have only had him for two weeks and he is quickly winning our hearts with his playful kitten antics and his very special "kitty-kisses".

You might wonder why the name Dr. Seuss? Simple - he was born on the real Dr. Seuss' birthday which also happens to be our twelve-year-old son's birthday (March 2nd). Ben has had allergy problems all his life, and when I began to read about the amazing "hypo-allergenic" qualities of the beautiful Siberian breed, I began to hope we could once again have a cat in the family. Sadly, we previously had given up our two pet cats when Ben was diagnosed at age three.

So the search began. I soon found that Siberians are still fairly rare in the USA, and it was no easy task finding a breeder close to us. Long story short, when I stumbled across Seuss' breeder and spoke with him, I knew as soon as I heard the kitten's date of birth that he was meant to be ours. And now he is a part of our family, along with three dogs, a gecko, and two fish. We couldn't be happier to have a doctor in the house :)

Cats Pictures of the Week are selected from general photo submittals. (I do not accept photos submitted specifically for "Cat Picture of the Week.") Dr. Seuss's picture was submitted for the June Bi-Color Cats Gallery, and will appear there also, as well as in a new Siberian Cats Gallery coming soon.

You may send your own photo, using the guidelines on the Photo Submittal page. Be sure to write a paragraph or so about the cat, at least two or three sentences. Our galleries have space for 2500 characters, including spaces, so don't be afraid to tell us about your cat within those parameters.

Remember that not only the quality of the picture, but the care you take in describing your cat may make the difference in its being chosen as Cat of the Week!
