What Kind of Cat Are You?

Purrsonality Test Number 3

Cat enthusiasts are sometimes heard to remark, "I hope some day I can come back as a cat." It's true that cats' lifestyles (at least those who are pampered in adoring homes) seem to be trouble-free. But have you ever wondered what's going on behind those furry eyebrows? Do you spend hours analyzing your cat's personality to see what "makes him tick?" If so, you probably will want to take this test. You may be closer to your cat than you think!

Note: This purrsonality test is purely unscientific and guaranteed not to turn you into a cat, but we think it's fun. For a change of pace, we're using color patterns instead of breeds for the possibilities.

Several Cats Forum members participated in analyzing the personalities of the four choices, and I'd like to thank Pat (raleigh54), Mike (WISCUS), Joanna (JONNIKER1), Lauren (L'Orange), and particularly to acknowledge HOSTBarb for some wildly creative descriptions.

  • Tabby is Joey, AKA "Busy Boots," "Happy Feet," and "Mr. Bo-Jangles." Joey and his littermate, Jaspurr keep your Cats Guide on the straight-and narrow, and both are featured on a number of pages at this site as my GuideKittens.
  • Calico is Martha, who was an abandoned kitten rescued by "Mikey," and now quite spoiled, according to him.
  • Tortoiseshell is "Cleocatra." Cleo is a five-pound cat with fifty-pound personality and lives with Elaine Stauff. "Now a year old, Cleo was adopted six months ago from a local shelter. She never stops moving except to sleep, has mock battles with invisible cats (as well as my other real ones), and is my 'velcro cat' the rest of the time," says Elaine.
  • Tuxedo is "Columbus," a rescue kitty of MIchelle LVT< an active forum member. "I had came home from work and discovered that Zeb had let the kittens out of the bathroom. I found 3 of them, but couldn't find Columbus. Know where he was?? In the drop ceiling in my kitchen!! To this day I have yet to discover how?? My little explorer!" Columbus is another rescue kitty of Michelle LVT.
