The kits came to their forever home on a Sunday and monday morning they were whisked to see Dr. Dietrich for a "well kitten" checkup and testing for FeLv. My niggling worry because of their uncertain parentage was relieved when they tested negative.

We started them immediately on NutroMax Kitten dry food, but withdrew it temporarily when Joey developed diarrhea. The poor baby tried so hard to practice proper litter box behavior, but he invariably managed to either step in it or drag his tail through it. I handled the cleaning chores during the day, but my son, Lance, became Joey's "mom" by cleaning his little bum at night. To this day, Joey climbs into bed with Lance at night and shows him his butt, as if to say, "Look, it's clean, mommy."

The boys spent the first week in Lance's room while we kitten-proofed the rest of the house and prepared Bubba for their meeting. They spent a lot of time playing.
