We've Got Mail!
In the past couple of weeks I've received several emails that set me surfing. The kittens pictured are housemates of Mathew Growden, of Canada, who wrote about his concerns for their propensity for high places. Judging from his response to my suggestions, as well as others he had received, Mathew qualifies as a cat lover supreme.
Mike Taylor wrote about his Pussycam web site. Now I have to say that I was a bit nervous about clicking that link, but I was rewarded when I did, by the sight of an empty computer chair and 2 food dishes. Strange, but the scene is the same today. Maybe Mike, Kat and Calypso are on vacation. But just to reassure his visitors that the cam really does work, Mike has included a nice selection of favorite clips for your viewing. This one was my all-time favorite. Before leaving the site, if you have RealPlayer or G2, you must click on the "Welcome" section. I had my first LOL of the day when I did--even played it back a couple of times.
Several months ago I featured Splat, the Therapy Cat, from the popular AcmePet web site. I've received a nice email from Keith Springer, Splat's human that he now has his own web site at http://www.splattdeekatt.com. Splatt succintly gives a cat's point of view about declawing: "Declawing is abuse folks, we can live without the lugnuts but we can't survive without our natural means of defense. Its like disbanding the Pentagon, firing the arm forces and making self defense of any sort punishable by deat,." in his Declaw This! article If Splatt's humorous approach doesn't deliver the point, this page by a veterinarian might: www.declawing.com. Dr. Christianne Schelling felt strongly enough about the subject to give it its own domain. Cool! There is an alternative to declawing, however, at Soft Paws. Interestingly enough, I discovered that Dr. Schelling developed Soft Paws, which are soft plastic nail caps which can be glued over your cat's own nails. Dr. Schelling asserts that the process is easy enough to do at home, but if your cat has meat-hooks like my Shannon, you might want to have your veterinarian handle the task.
You see how my mailbox sets me surfing? We've gone from kittens in high places to cat toenail jewelry in just a few clicks of the mouse. That's the
beauty of About.com. We do the legwork so you don't have to!
