Cats Mailing Lists
Mailing lists are an excellent way to keep up-to-date with current activities in the cat world, particularly if you are a showing breeder. There are also mailing lists dedicated to furtherance of information about various cat-specific diseases, and other lists just for people to share information about their fuzzy friends.
Mailing list participants generally frown on self-serving promotion, the same as bulletin board visitors do, so don't write about your new cat product unless you're sure it's that kind of a list, or unless someone specifically asks. It's a good idea to just "lurk" for awhile, and see how other visitors are posting. Read as many of the previous posts as you can before jumping in with a question. It may have already been answered.
Most people who subscribe to mailing lists are kind and helpful to "newbies", but don't be surprised if you get "flamed". Sometimes people are just having a bad day and don't count to ten before typing, so don't take it personally. You may have just struck a raw nerve or hit on a sensitive topic. By the same token, count to 10 before flinging back an answer. You may find that other readers will come to your defense before you need to even reply.
You must join these mailing lists in order to participate. Please read their individual requirement criteria before subscribing to any list.
Who knows, you may even want to start your own mailing list some day.
