Cats Site of the Week
dateline 6/26/00

The Cats Site of the Week honors one cat site each week for excellence in web site design, format and content. Much like sites which have received the Best of the Net awards, Cats Sites of the Week simply leap off the screen and demand to be explored. They are really in-your-face web sites, and as such, deserve special recognition. This week's honored site is just that.

The Brat Cats Cats Site of the Week

With 90 pages alone listed on the main page, it would be difficult to know where to start showing The Brat Cats site, in fact many of the pages are worthy of their own awards. Nevertheless, we'll start with the cats themselves, which seems fitting.

Brandee is a beautiful classic tabby who was rescued by Philip Gonzalez and Ginny, the Dog Who Rescues Cats. Although she has a background of abuse, she has chutzpah and confidence, and seems to be a survivor. Dondee, also a rescue, from Kings Highway Cat Rescue in Brooklyn, idolizes Brandee, and gets along with her much better than Marlee did. Gatsby was a little tabby street-cat who practically begged to be taken home. He made fast friends with Dondee, and gets along "okay" with Brandee, the undisputed alpha cat.

The Brat Cats site is a mixture of both the fun and the serious aspects of being a cat lover, and offers a goodly number of advocacy and educational pages. Grooming or Torture is an example of both of the latter. Questions to Ask Yourself Before Adopting a Cat is another. Free to a Good Home cautions against this kind of advertisement for placing kittens and cats.

Scroll down the index some more. You'll find cartoons, links to graphics sites, recipes, awards-- just about everything a Cataholic could ask for. But don't forget what Grandpa said on the old Lifesaver commercial, "Let's save some for another day."
