Franny Syufy

Franny Syufy has been writing about cats for About.com since 1997.

Franny is a member of the Cat Writers' Association, an organization of prominent cat writers, photographers, artists, and broadcasters. She won awards from CWA for her writing in 2003, 2004, and 2005, including the prestigious PurinaOne Health Award for her article, "When to Call Your Veterinarian for Your Cat." In 2005, Franny was honored with the Muse Medallion in CWA's online magazine competition.

She is currently working on a book about cats that will be published in Spring 2009.

To further her knowledge of cats, Franny has taken courses on feline anatomy and veterinary terminology.

My husband and I have been honored to be the companions and caregivers to dozens of cats in the past 49 years. We do not view our cats as pets, but rather as loved family members.

I believe that our cats can teach us important lessons about life, death, love, and loyalty, if we will only listen. This site focuses on educational and entertaining articles that will help bring new understanding and appreciation of our feline friends.
