Photo Tour: Tony LaRussa's ARF (Animal Rescue Foundation)

The Animal Rescue Foundation came about as the result of Tony LaRussa's encounter with a little cat who strayed on the playing field during a game in 1990, when he was manager of the Oakland A's. After rescuing the cat, Tony was horrified to find that there was not a single no-kill facility in the entire Bay Area. The rest, as they say, is history.

ARF's state-of-the-art facility in Walnut Creek, California, was the culmination of years of planning and fund-raising, and its doors opened to the public in late August, 2003. I visited the facility shortly after the grand opening and was thrilled and impressed with what I saw. Please join me for a short photo tour of ARF.
