Maggie is a real sweetie. I adopted her last summer from our local Animal Rescue League. I went into the local pet supply store for dog food, and there she was on display in a cage. Having already announced to my family that I wanted to get a cat who was not afraid of our 90 lb.Labrador Retriever, I was surprised when the store employee told me that Maggie would reach out with her large paw through the bars whenever a dog came into the store.

Her sister had already been adopted, and she must have been lonely. I stuck a finger into her cage, and she wrapped her huge paw around it ( as huge as a paw attached to a 1.7 lb. kitten could be!). She was scrawny, with long orange hairs down her back, and a crazy fluffy tail. Her ears and eyes were also large and something about her tugged at my heartstrings.

I think she adopted me, and since bringing her home I can't imagine being without her. The folks at the store thought she may have some Maine Coon, and she seems to have every trait. Instead of meow, she would say "yeow". But usually she only speaks to us while waiting for her food dish. She chatters and clicks at birds and bugs through the window. She is not afraid of our Lab, and on occasion grooms her!

My husband resisted getting a cat at first, but has grown to love her because she "acts like a dog". She is independent, but will wander into the room that we're in, and even sometimes crawl up onto my lap.
