Friend:
For seventeen years Big Kitty was a stoic and steady friend. Always available to inspect whatever your were doing but never a critic. He was always available to share a nap. He was generous with his cat kisses, warm and cuddly to hug, He was my best friend.
Mentor:
At ten years his and my life was changed forever by the addition of a second cat (Jewel) to our family. Big Kitty now had a very small companion to play with and Dad had a new kitten to worry about. Watching his two cats play and grow together brought much laughter and not a few anxious moments. Big Kitty weighed in at 15 lbs. and Jewel at almost 2 lbs. but they were great together. He seemed to know that he had to play carefully with her and he did so.
Seven years latter a new kitten (Nellie Belle) arrived at our door. Who better to raise her than Big Kitty and Jewel? They had to teach her what she could get into and what not to touch. Being a kitten of course she ignored both of them. But even when she made a mess they never squealed.
After Sixteen years of robust health Big Kitty started feeling poorly, losing weight and just feeling rundown. A trip to the Vet's and some blood work confirmed he was suffering from old age and partial renal failure. A special diet would help but time was against him. At seventeen he looked too thin and moved too slow but I just couldn't bear to let him go, I hope I didn't wait too long.
Tribute:
Big Kitty was my first cat. He taught me a lot of things but mostly he taught me about love. He only asked for a little but he gave back so much. He went to heaven yesterday and I already miss him so much. I keep looking under my chair by the computer but he's not there.
Please take a few moments in your prayers tonight to ask God to take good care of him for me until I get there.
