One morning, while my husband and I were returning from our community garden, a filthy white young kitten ran up to us. I picked her up and because she was too young to be out on her own, we went about knocking on neighbors' doors to find her owner. All the time, my husband was saying: "If we don't find her owners, she'll have to go to the humane society." I just nodded.

With no one to claim her, we took her home. Once in the house, she immediately scrambled out of my arms, jumped into his, and wrapped her little kitten paws around his neck. Purring like a buzzsaw, she kissed him on the tip of the nose. My husband looked at me and said, "There's only two ways she is leaving this house: with her rightful owner or over my dead body."

Fortunately for him, and Anu, no rightful owner ever came forward. She's had her paws around his soul ever since and is a bone fide daddy's girl to the bone.

Anu's photo also appears in the White February Cats Picture Gallery. Anu's stunning beauty, as captured by Chris, simply demanded that she be a Cat of the Week.

My Cat Pictures of the Week are chosen by me from general photo submittals, but only those submitted with all the information requested in my Photo Submittal Guidelines.
