My cat is a calico, she's named Ginger and was born on April 06. My parents-in-law's neighbors had adopted this little cat, but unfortunately, the wife appeared to be allergic to cats' hair so much she had to take medicines several times a day to fight her allergy. They were about to give the kitty back to the association where they had got her, when we saw her and found her lovable, very nice and she came to us to get caresses. We decided to go to the association with the owners of Ginger so that they introduce us to the person caring for the cats. The woman was very happy Ginger would find another family right away (she had stayed only 1 week with the neighbors family). When she was younger, she loved playing like a dog; we would send a fluffy toy ("piglet," from Winnie the Pooh cartoon) and (she) would bring it back into her mouth so that we send it again, and again...

We then moved from Paris region to the Loire Valley region (we're French) and into a new apartment where she could go out in the courtyard (closed one). Unfortunately, one evening she came back walking on 3 paws. We could touch her paw and leg, she wouldn't say anything or show pain. Neither the vet did find what was her problem. After 2 weeks, he told us to go to an other vet's to ask for a radio (x-ray). It finally appeared that her leg was broken into 3! She got a plaster for 5 weeks, which didn't prevent her from jumping and playing as habit. Now we've taken it off her paw for 2 weeks, and she's walking again like before, on her 4 paws (but asks no more for going out in the courtyard).

Every time we seat on the sofa she comes with us to get affection, and she really love it and so do we ;o) Her favorite position is lying on the top of the sofa. We also have a bunny; we had her 1 day before we had Ginger at home. They get along well, but still try to discover each other. We hope they'll become good friends!

Ginger is a very striking example of a calico, with a lovely harlequin-like mask on her face. Her photo will appear in a new 2008 May Calico Cats Gallery, then will be saved for a future gallery of Cats Around the World. My cat pictures of the week are selected, first from the monthly calendar cats gallery, then from random photo submittals, but only from photos submitted with the Photo Submittal Guidelines.
