This is Jamie. I adopted her from an owner who had died of ovarian cancer. No one wanted to adopt an 11 year old diabetic cat with a bit of an attitude. The owner died five days later after I acquired her. I remember Jamie was SO sad that day. It was as if she knew. She was diabetic and obese. Jamie eventually lost the weight, and was cured of diabetes. A year later, she was diganosed with Mast Cell Tumor. Cancer. I was told she only had 4 to 6 months to live, instead, she's still around after 17 months. At the time of the photograph, she has lost a lot more weight, the tumor has become more visible, and she started to suffer muscle atrophy. I couldn't help, but admire the sad look on her face. It always make me feel to reach out for her.
As of Aug 2006, Jamie's symptoms from the MCT has gotten worse. Soon it will be time to have her travel the Rainbow Bridge. She's special to me because she's the first Special Needs Kitty, First cat out of nine cats that I've own in my life that I will be putting to sleep, First cat that I owned that had cancer. She was the cat no one wanted, but I wanted her and she's special.
