There is nothing more rewarding that the knowledge that you have made a difference to another being. Adopting a shelter cat makes a big difference, not only to the cat, who may literally have been on death row, but to your own life. Cats are well-known for giving unconditional love to their human companions, and you'll find your life enriched immeasurably.

I put out the call to my readers to share their own shelter cats' adoption stories, and the response was heartening. The stories presented here offer a strong case for the adoption of shelter cats. If you've felt a need for a new cat to share your life and home, I recommend you go first to your own local shelter.
