2008 Red Cats Picture Gallery: Riley

This is Riley. He was a rescue barn kitty. One of my best friends was fostering him and his brothers and sisters. She knew that I have always wanted a red tabby, but when she first got him we already had 3 cats and weren't looking for a new kitty. Then my smoke Himalayan passed away unexpectedly over the 4th of July weekend at the young age of 8. We were heartbroken. My friend brought Riley down for us to meet even though we were pretty adamant that we weren't going to get a new cat so soon. Well, I took one look at him in his carrier and it was love at first sight for both Riley and me.

He has always been a character. When he was young he loved to steal my swimsuit top and run around the house with it trailing under him. He follows me everywhere in the house and loves to take naps with me. He is very vocal and will meow at me incessantly for treats. When I don't immediately comply he will bat at me with his paw. He definitely lets me know when he wants something! He also loves to fetch. He and our Golden Retriever puppy are wrestle buddies. He puts up a loud fuss with meowing and growling, but he doesn't get up and leave unless he has really had it and when the dog stops Riley will paw at him and start another round.

In this picture he was 2 years old. He is now 8 and is still playful and fun and the whole family loves him to pieces.
